Mary’s Helping Hands is here for you.
If you’re pregnant or have a child under the age of two, we’re here to support you with gently used maternity wear, baby clothing, and essential nursery items. Everything we offer has been generously donated and carefully inspected to ensure it’s clean and in excellent condition.
If you’re in need, we’d love to have a confidential conversation about how we can help.
Our Commitment to Inclusion
Mary’s Helping Hands does not—and shall not—discriminate based on race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status in any of our activities or operations.
This includes, but is not limited to, the hiring and dismissal of staff, selection of volunteers and vendors, and the provision of services.
We are committed to fostering an inclusive, welcoming environment for all staff, clients, volunteers, subcontractors, and partners.
Why we started this ministry
Many families in Central Iowa face real challenges in meeting their basic needs—especially when welcoming a new baby. The added financial strain can make it difficult to afford essentials like clothing, diapers, hygiene products, and baby gear needed during those critical early years.
Mary’s Helping Hands was created to bridge that gap. Through the generosity of our donors—who provide both financial support and in-kind donations like maternity and baby clothing, books, and nursery items—we’re able to directly serve families in need with compassion and dignity.
Our Impact Is Growing
Since 2021, Mary’s Helping Hands has experienced tremendous growth—both in the number of families we serve and the essential items we provide.
We started by supporting 704 clients in 2021 and grew to serve over 6,200 in 2024. Alongside that growth, the number of items distributed—such as clothing, diapers, and baby gear—has increased from 34,357 in 2021 to nearly 194,000 in 2024.
This growth is a testament to the increasing need in our community—and the generous hearts of those who support our mission.
